After a day of making photos Leia and I went looking for fresh seafood for dinner. We brought back a handful of beautiful Blue Mussels and Periwinkle Sea Snails. I know what you're thinking...snails? Gross! But they are extremely delicious having somewhat of a cross between the taste of clams and lobster/crawfish.

The mussels and snails were cooked in a mix of butter, green onions, about of teaspoon of fried red chili, and about half a cup of Oktoberfest beer. No need to salt! The butter and natural brininess of the Atlantic Ocean took care of that already. I would have given anything to have had some garlic on hand....

I threw some steak on the fire and to round out the most insanely fresh surf and turf meal of my life.

**NOTE** Generally here in the Gulf of Maine harvesting Blue Mussels and Periwinkles is legally permitted by individuals (non-commercial) without the need for a permit. However, be sure to check the local laws of your area prior to harvesting.
