Proof that the Central Tibetan Administration is not a democracy

The Dalai Lama’s government in exile, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) proclaims itself to be a democratic system of government, and its struggle with China as that of a liberal nation against an oppressive Communist regime. But how much of the CTA’s democracy is real and authentic?

Celebrity host Phng Li Kim explores the characteristics of true democracies and examines whether the CTA truly upholds the basic principles of democracy that it insists is enshrined in the Tibetan Constitution. As the CTA gears up to celebrate what it hails to be its 58th year as a democratic government, hard questions need to be asked as to why a supposedly democratic country bears such tremendous resemblance to its own feudalistic self. Is democracy merely another CTA ruse?
