The Wonder of Fall Migration

Описание к видео The Wonder of Fall Migration

Speaker: David Carr, Research Professor, Environmental Sciences, A&S Director, Blandy Experimental Farm and State Arboretum of Virginia

Virginia is one of many exits along a superhighway that stretches over 9,000 miles from the Arctic to Tierra del Fuego. Each year, millions of birds representing over 200 species pass through Virginia as they transition from their wintering grounds to their breeding grounds in the spring, and back again to the neotropics in the fall. These include shorebirds, birds of prey, songbirds, and many others. Birds as tiny as ruby-throated hummingbirds and as large as peregrine falcons make the annual round trip. David Carr, research professor of environmental sciences and director of the University’s Blandy Experimental Farm, will give a presentation that focuses on the diversity, behavior, and wonder of fall migrating birds in Virginia.
