Wind Ensemble - Senshadou March -- Panzer Vor!

Remember that Finale file of this song that I uploaded years ago? Well, I put it on my senior recital. I told you it was gonna happen. Anyway, I'll post a few more recordings from my recital but not all of them.

That's me conducting, by the way.

And here are the insanely creative program notes for it:

Once again, Girls und Panzer is the source material and Shiro Hamaguchi is the composer. This is a very upbeat and Western-style march. It is more or less the overall theme song to the show; the melody, first presented by the alto sax and the piccolo, appears throughout the soundtrack in one form or another. Sometimes it is in a minor key to convey a battle where the odds aren’t in our heroine’s favor, other times the melody is augmented. But whatever changes are made, it always fits the situation. This march has been described as “cute”, a sentiment which one can fully agree with. The characters in the show also tend to call the tanks cute but I have a hard time seeing that. Also, why couldn’t tank combat have been an elective when I went to high school? Would definitely have picked that over marching band. Then again, that school would have gotten the absolute worst tanks.

Recorded at Schroeder Hall, Sonoma State University May 8, 2015
