Maggie O'Farrell on Hamnet, at Damian Barr's Literary Salon

Описание к видео Maggie O'Farrell on Hamnet, at Damian Barr's Literary Salon

Maggie O’Farrell returns to the Salon for another world premiere with Hamnet, the novel she’s wanted to write for over thirty years. Her first foray into historical fiction takes us back to a summer day in 1596. A young girl in Stratford-upon-Avon takes to bed with a fever. Her twin brother, Hamnet, is distraught. Their mother, Agnes, is a mile away, in the garden where she grows medicinal herbs. Their father is working in London. His name is William. This is the heart-stopping story behind Shakespeare’s most famous play.

Watch Maggie give her first ever reading from Hamnet and her incredible conversation with Damian Barr.

Recorded at Damian Barr's Literary Salon at The Savoy, London, 18th October 2019.
