About the Monofilament Recycling Program

Описание к видео About the Monofilament Recycling Program

At BoatUS Foundation, we’re committed to protecting our country’s waterways for future generations to enjoy. The Reel In and Recycle Program is a key part of those efforts.

Launched in 2007, the Reel In and Recycle Program was started with grants from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation as well as the NOAA’s Marine Debris Program.

For nearly 15 years, we’ve worked with industry partners to make it easier for anglers to recycle old fishing line. BoatUS Foundation staff and volunteers have personally built more than 2,000 recycling bins for recreational fishing gear.

We’ve also provided the guidance and discounted materials needed to enable fishing enthusiasts to create more than 13,000 bins since 2007.

All in, our Reel In and Recycle Program has recycled more than 20,000 miles of fishing line since its inception.

Getting involved with the Reel In and Recycle Program has never been easier. You can visit the BoatUS Foundation website to find all of the resources you need to bring the program to your favorite fishing spot.

You’ll find a step-by-step guide on how to build your own fishing line recycling bin. You can also visit our store to find the decals and signs you’ll need to complete your recycling bin.

With your help, we can continue expanding the Reel In and Recycle program to reach more of our country’s waterways. Together, we can ensure that future generations are able to enjoy our favorite fishing spots by making fishing line recycling the new normal.
