(See description for Table of Contents) The Sig Sauer sp2022, also know as the Sig Pro or Sig 2022. This firearm is available in 9mm or 40 caliber. It is a very affordable option, being bought for around $400 at the time of this video. Also, it is the only Sig Sauer pistol with a small grip to fit my hands. So, if you have small hands or short fingers, and want a Sig pistol, this is a good option.
I compared this against the Sig 226 E2 SRT (Enhanced Ergonomics, Short Reset Trigger) and even-though the P226 E2 grip was smaller, it was still too large I couldn't reach the decocking lever. The SP2022's grip is smaller than even the P226 E2, so with the SP2022 I was able to reach all the controls comfortably.
FYI, for movie fans: In the Bourne Identity at the beginning when he goes to the bank and looks in the safe deposit box, there is a Sig Pro pistol in there. It looks similar to this gun, but it is a Sig SP2009 (the predecessor to this pistol).
Table of contents:
0:20 introduction and general information
1:20 Size, A bit smaller than most "full size", larger than most "compact" pistols.
2:00 Polymer frame, but trigger, controls, and magazine are metal. Replaceable grip inserts.
2:43 Grip textured
3:10 Comparison to Sig P226 (old classic style)
3:52 comparison to Sig P226 E2 SRT (new Enhanced Ergonomics slim grips, Short Reset Trigger). Still wasn't small enough to fit my hand, which is why I went with the SP2022.
4:42 Comparison of size/grip to S&W M&P 9mm
5:10 Accessories: finding Holsters. Holster options are limited. Fobus didn't work, but Blackhawk Serpa fit good. Similar holster fit to Springfield XD ?
6:45 Magazines. 9mm holds 15 rounds, 40-cal holds 12 (if not restricted by law). They can be expensive. Some aftermarket options, or buy Sig Pro magazines. Search around for best price, price varies from $35 to $50.
8:05 Notice the difference in front accessory rail bettween SP2009 vs SP2022. Slim Proprietary rail vs standard Picatinny rail, could interfere with some holster fit.
8:50 Trigger. Single action, Double action. Showing the trigger reset. Must pull trigger all the way to the rear, it breaks very far back.
10:35 Decocker
10:45 Slide-to-barrel fit, very good.
11:50 Ammunition tested and reliability
12:12 Thumb placement problems, interference with the large slide-stop lever.
13:07 Sight picture, I like a 6-o'clock hold. To me, this pistol seems to hit low. Sight options for different heights.
14:25 Short grip with large magazine baseplate, possible pinch-point when changing magazines.
15:11 Price is very affordable. Much less than a Sig P226.
15:40 Not claiming to be a "competition" pistol. Side-by-side size comparison to M&P 9mm, sight-radius. But don't let that stop you, accuracy is still good.
16:35 Is this a good option for you? what will you use it for?
16:58 Striker-fired vs Double-action/Single-action
17:24 Accessory rail for light/laser
17:45 Side-topic: double action / single action, decocker vs hammer-drop safety differences. Sig's decocker design vs other Slide-mounted safety lever designs.
19:28 Conclusion and wrap-up
19:56 Pictures of internal components
20:39 End.
