Time to do something from a game that came out in 2017! Hollow Knight is a self-described "Metroidvania" 2D action-adventure with some mechanics that are remeniscent of Dark Souls as well. Underneath the town of Dirtmouth is a wide and colorful cast of bugs, the majority of which are enemies, but some will help you along the way while pursuing their own quests for riches and adventure. And by "wide and colorful" I mean mostly gray. But the mostly gray artwork is gorgeous and the character designs are lively and quirky.

The main theme from Hollow Knight, composed by Christopher Larkin, occurs sporadically throughout the game (initially heard as early as the title screen). I based this passacaglia-esque arrangement mostly on the track "Enter Hallownest" but it's heard as early as the opening title screen. I think the theremin lends a nice touch to the eerie vibe of the original! It's not a conventional ensemble by any means, but hey, this is pretty much all the instruments I play.
