SANYO M9994 Boombox Restoration & Bluetooth Hack

The SANYO M9994, nice looking old school boombox. Both the radio and the cassette deck were totally in bad shape. However, the body was in good condition.
The radio got his sound back after treating volume control potentiometer with contact cleaner. The biggest problem was the cassette deck. It used 3 drive belts and 1 small drive tire, one of the drive belt was melted away. At first I replaced 2 belts and used an original belt, but soon I realized that an original belt was slipping, so eventually I needed to replace all of them including small rubber drive tire. After that I cleaned entire deck, removed old grease, de-magnetized heads, adjusted motor speed, then finally it started playing music.
About Bluetooth addition, I located radio signal pins, then hacked into those pins with Bluetooth signal. When the Bluetooth power on, at the same time the radio signal will be cut off, so there will be no conflict between radio and Bluetooth signals. This time I used 2 of bright blue color LEDs, and set them on the each side of the clear plastic radio panel. It glowed nicely.
It took me many hours to complete restoration and Bluetooth mod, but I enjoyed it. So now it your turn to enjoy the video.
