"In The End" is an unreleased song from the 2023 album "Memento Mori". The song plays over the end credits of the upcoming concert film Depeche Mode: ME and as of June 6, 2025,is otherwise unavailable. According to the film's credits, the song is written by Martin Gore and Richard Butler.

June 5, 2025, at the world premiere of "M" at theTribeca Performing Arts Center in New York, film director Fernando Frias was joined by Martin L Gore and Dave Gahan for a spirited screening of the 95-minute film that often felt like a live concert.

"One of the things about a Depeche Mode concert is that it's a communal experience," Gahan said during a panel at the Tribeca Film Festival after the screening. "Watching us is, frankly, a little painful... I can't explain what happens when a person acts. "It's a strange and spiritual experience conveyed through music. "

The experience was filmed during a three-night concert at Foro Sol in Mexico City in 2023, where a total of more than 200,000 fans made the pilgrimage to see an elegant, expansive production that featured Gahan twirling around the stage as Stevie Nicks in a three-piece suit, Gore sharing his keyboard and guitar skills, and his angelic voice and songs from four decades of synth-soaked creativity.

Among songs like the melancholy “My Space Is Mine” and “Don’t Say You Love Me,” both from the album “Memento Mori,” 2023 (“Remember, You’re Going to Die”), with fan voiceovers and lyrics provided in Spanish.

A serene swamp scene shifts to aerial drone footage of a concert, with Gahan performing hypnotic routines during the somber “Speak to Me,” his voice resonating through a cloud of synths.

A lesson from an Aztec underworld guardian precedes Gore’s stunning rendition of “Soul with Me,” another of Frias’s wistful connections between song and spirit.

Lifelong Depeche Mode fans will enjoy vibrant renditions of classics like “Enjoy the Silence” (Gahan smiles at Gore as he plays the song’s instantly recognizable opening notes) and the upbeat “Personal Jesus.” But they’ll likely appreciate the dedication to original member Andy Fletcher, who died of an aortic dissection in 2022 at the age of 60.

Fletcher’s Face Matrix move among the audience as Gahan folds his fingers into glasses and holds his hands above his head in a mask-like pose. As the band performs “World in My Eyes,” the screens covering the backstage area light up with a photo of Fletcher, a sweet tribute to the new wave innovator.

While the theme of mortality is present throughout the film, it is also balanced with hope, appreciation, and more than a hint of realism.
