Five In Five (No.11 - Tim Kinsella & Jenny Pulse)

Five In Five is a weekly series where people talk about 5 records in 5 (ish) minutes.

This week's is Episode 11 and it's with Tim Kinsella and Jenny Pulse.

Tim is a musician, author and visual artist based in Chicago, Illinois. You might know him from such genre-defining and genre-exploding bands as Cap'n Jazz, Joan Of Arc, Owls, Make Believe, Friend/Enemy and solo records and collaborations under his own name. His constant desire to challenge himself and his audience makes him something of an outlier in the world of American post-whatever-we-want-to-call-it music in that he isn't done yet, not by a long way.

His latest musical project is a collaboration with musician/producer Jenny Pulse. Jenny has made solo records under her own name as well as the moniker Spa Moans and collaborated with Kinsella as part of both the Friend/Enemy project and Joan Of Arc before collaborating as a duo, initially called Good F*ck but now going under the slightly more straightforward title of "Tim Kinsella & Jenny Pulse". They're also married - belated congrats!

Their latest release is "Giddy Skelter" on the esteemed Kill Rock Stars label. It's as unpredictable and genre-agnostic as anyone who loves their previous work would hope for but with a joyous, open ear for production and sound that rewards repeated listens.
