Saved by Stem Cells: Dan and Payton at DKMS

In February 2018, Payton was diagnosed with aplastic anaemia, and her only hope was a stem cell transplant. Fortunately, Daniel was on the DKMS register and was her perfect match. In August 2018, Payton received his lifesaving stem cells.

Five years on, the pair finally got to meet in person in Payton’s hometown of Dallas, Texas. Payton’s parents, Brandon and Steph explain, “We are just so grateful for Daniel, he’s family to us, we have our little girl here and healthy, because of him.”

Now, Daniel is calling on more people to register with DKMS: “Meeting Payton and her family has helped me understand even more how impactful donating is to so many people. I would do it again in a heartbeat.”
