I know this video might sound kind of emo, but whatever it's my channel ;P

I've been a really big fan of Studio Ghibli movies since I was really young. A lot of anime is kinda the same, at least to me, but Miyasaki movies have always been different.

Most of the time, movies (especially anime) fall into tropes about character archetypes, dialog, story beats, etc.

But, Studio Ghibli movies always seem so unique. Much like with Pixar movies, watching them back as an adult almost feels like you're watching a completely different movie.

Ghibli movies particularly focus on the Japanese concept of 間　(ma) which is basically an empty space between two things.

As I said in the video, I love the little parts were nothing is happening and time seems to stop. You can just appreciate the world they've built for what it is.

These movies kind of remind me of feeling like a kid, when time was endless and every day was a self-contained adventure.

Anyway, I saw this type of video once and wondered if I could figure out how to make it from scratch. Turns out it's actually really easy, just time consuming. But, I think it turned out pretty good.
