Number 10: It's Not For All Species Of Animal.
Let's start by knocking down one of the biggest misconceptions in regards to the "trophy hunting is good" argument. It's the argument that if you support trophy hunting, you're for the hunting down of all species of animals. Which is not true in the slightest. Trophy hunting is about a specific set of animals in the world today.
Think about it in terms of deer, which has a common practice of hunting that just about everyone accepts. Trophy hunting deer is done because deer honestly breed a lot, and if their numbers get too big in certain areas, via not being hunted by humans and natural predators, it will drastically affect the ecosystem. Which is something nobody wants.
But this same logic doesn't apply to say...a polar bear. Which is illegal to hunt in the United States, but is legal in Canada, ironically enough. We're not saying that it's fair to hunt all animals to maintain the animal populations, but in specific cases, it is ok, as long as the numbers are measured and balanced. Oh, and while we're on the topic, let's debunk another stereotype of the argument.
Number 9: We Don’t Support Poaching.
No, we don't. We seriously don't. In fact, it's poachers that honestly give big game hunters a bad name. And there's a very simple and elegant reason why poachers are bad and big game hunters technically aren't.
Poachers break the rules to kill animals, while hunters pay for their licenses and follow guidelines in order to find the game they're trying to get.
See the difference?
When you think about it, it's the poachers that are preventing the big game hunts from happening like they're supposed to, because most big game hunts in Africa and other countries have a limit on how many legal hunts can be done in a season. Examples of this would be five elephants in Africa, in certain regions, because you don't want to destabilize the population.
In contrast, a poacher will go in and hunt any animal they please regardless of whether its protected, in a sanctuary, or you know, if it's legal or not.
Poaching wipes out entire animal species when it's done in excess, which is why there are numerous elephant and rhino species right now that are tetering on the edge of extinction. But, done in moderation, hunting, and even trophy hunting, can actually stabilize a population without causing it to dip too low below the "security" line.
The only people who support poachers are other poachers and the ones who benefit from their illegal acts, which is unfortunately quite a lot of people. Because, especially in Africa, elephants and rhinos are prized for their ivory horns, and they're poached by dozens, hundreds, and even thousands because their ivory tusks and horns are worth thousands, and even tens of thousands of dollars.
And here's another difference between poaching and trophy hunting. Usually, the trophy hunters are a single individual who is off for some big adventure (because they can afford said adventure),
while in contrast, the poachers are typically organizations that use a wide net of people and resources to get their prey and their prize.
So you tell me, who's the bigger threat here? The lone trophy hunter? Or the groups of poachers? Seems pretty clear to me. Speaking of worse things...
Number 8: Loss Of Habitat.

Here's another fact that no one can deny, in virtually every place on Earth (besides Antarctica...because who wants to risk living there?), humanity is growing more and more. And by that token, they need places to live. While it's easy to think that we all live comfortably in cities and the like, the truth is, we're kind of running out of room. When that happens, we expand into areas that we know aren't populated by too many humans and we expand there.
Even countries like Africa, which only have "modern" cities in places like Egypt and South Africa, have this problem, as they use the lands for farming so that they can provide for their families. But in places like the US, Asia, Europe, and more, the need for land is more about money than anything else. So they chop down forests, habitat lakes and the like so that they can get their money's worth.
When this happens, animals suffer big time. There are many animal species in the world right now that are dying out…not because of human hunting…but due to human expansion and interference.
