NIKOLAS PALAIOLOGOS
Nikolas Palaiologos was born in Kalamata in 1984. His interest in music started at the age of seven (7).
His first contact with traditional instruments was made in 1996 when he was still a student at the Music School of Kalamata. Soon he discovered the vast richness hidden in Greek Traditional Music, as well as in the music of other Mediterranean and Eastern countries.
In 2001 he made the acquaintance of the extraordinary musician, composer and teacher Ross Daly, who gave him a series of lessons on the technique of the instruments Oud and Saz, on the theory of the Eastern music and on the art of improvisation. Since then he has developed a stronger interest in other stringed instruments, such as rubab, cümbüş, yayli tanbur, kabak kemane and others.
In November 2008 he met the brilliant oud solist Nasheer Shamma, founder of “Bait Al Oud” in Cairo where he demonstrated the tone-colour of the oud through his own compositions.
He has participated in many concerts and festivals with various music ensembles in several cities in Greece and abroad and has co-operated with great musicians of Greek and international renown.
Since 2003 he has been teaching in the School of Byzantine Music of The Holy Metropolis of Messinia. He has also taught in the Music School of Kalamata and in seminars in various other cities in Greece.
About Independent Global Art Festival
We believe in the healing properties of art, and even more at this time; when so many face hardship around the planet. It is the artist's intention to be united with the audience so that they may dream and travel together through the World of Music, in the Space of Art. In a world with such sounds, vibrations, poems, notes, beats, and colors; our imagination can create the reality that we dream and deserve.
This distinctly diverse event features 50 artists from 14 countries including India, Greece, Iran, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Sri Lanka, Japan, Thailand, USA, Italy, Belgium, and France.
The artists are distinguished in their fields and celebrate a variety of traditions,
