The fourth session will provide an overview of the progress within climate mitigation, particularly the Mitigation Work Programme and the intersectoral linkage with other sectors.The session will explore the mitigation strategies and the need for better mitigation goals. Participants will learn about the various mechanisms for mitigation, including energy transition, fossil fuel phase out, energy transition finance, capacity and technology, and the challenges associated with laws and regulations. The training will also examine the future perspectives on mitigation, including the acceleration of just transition (Just Transition Work Programme), the importance of mainstreaming mitigation into development planning and decision-making, and the role of mitigation in the Agriculture, Forestry, and Land Use (AFOLU) sector, in particular, the mitigation of non-CO2 greenhouse gasses in this sector.

By the end of the session, participants will have a deeper understanding of the complexity of mitigation and the challenges associated with achieving the 1.5 degree Celsius. Participants will also have developed critical thinking, analysis, and communication skills through engagement with interdisciplinary topics related to mitigation and climate change.
