‘Erdogan and Turkey have an essential role to play’ says President of the European Commission

During a visit to Turkey, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the “Syrian people deserve a peaceful transition”, which should preserve the “country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.”

Speaking during a joint press conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, von der Leyen also stated that “Erdogan and Turkey has an essential role to play in stabilising the region.”
