a. extension of cities due to over population. building of roads. building of houses because of over population. agricultural activities. pastures for grazing. wood for fuel and timber. timber mafia cut the trees for easy cash.

effects of deforestation:
soil erosion. habitat loss for wildlife. extinction of many species. floods. climatic change. formation of desert which is called desertification.

control of deforestation:
deforestation can be controlled by either afforestation which is a process of establishing new forest, or reforestation which is a process of renewing old forest in an area.
