This is a newer telephone, from around the mid-2000s. The story goes: In our old apartment, there was, of all things, a telephone jack on the wall. Lo and behold, it worked! So I figured why not put a phone in the bathroom. I ended up with a white or cream-colored plain old phone from someplace like Big Lots, I remember that phone was under $10 brand new. It worked, and it was nice while "stuck" in the bathroom to be able to pick up the phone if it rang. Or sometimes you remember that you need to call someone "at that moment", it was as simple as picking up the phone.

Obviously that phone isn't this one. Back in the apartment we had plain old copper line telephone service, so any other features like call waiting or especially caller ID were extra, and we didn't pay for any of those. When we got the house, VoIP was on the rampage, and included all of those features.

Now I don't have phone lines in the bathrooms (although I've planned to run the wires for years), but I also have a lot more places that a phone would be convenient. Like by the bar.

Enter this phone, a GE corded telephone, which also has a caller ID display. Although the cord isn't able to be extended, and this phone really indeed does keep you tethered to the wall, it serves its purpose well. Also goes plenty loud which is really nice when the music is blasting down there. The only problem is the batteries in it go dead pretty quickly, so the caller ID function, one of the main reasons I bought it, doesn't get used, because the batteries keep the display alive when the phone is hung up. Such is life.
