THE GINGERBREAD MAN
A little gingerbread man manages to run away from a little old woman, a little old man, a cat, a dog, a cow and a pig.
Each one of them had wanted to eat him, but he was too quick for them.
He teased them as he ran singing "Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me. I'm a gingerbread man."

Eventually he ran past a sly fox.
He called out to the fox to try to catch him but the fox just laughed.
The fox said that he did not want to eat the gingerbread man, so why should he chase him.
With that the gingerbread man stopped running and walked beside the fox all the way down to a stream. The fox told the gingerbread man to jump onto his back so that he could get him across the stream safely.
The gingerbread man did.
Then as the water got deeper, the fox encouraged the gingerbread man to move up onto his shoulders. The gingerbread man did.
Finally, as the water got even deeper, the fox told the gingerbread man to jump onto his head.
Just as the gingerbread man got onto the fox's head the fox tossed his head up and with two snaps he ate the gingerbread man all up.

Lucky fox! I'm sure he enjoyed the gingerbread man.
The very next day the little old woman baked another gingerbread man.
