Rochelle Municipal Airport hosts Bally Bomber Project

ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Municipal Airport will host the Bally Bomber Project, a 1/3 scale World War II-era Boeing B-17 four-engine bomber plane, on July 7.

The plane was built completely from scratch by Jack Bally of Dixon. It holds one person and will be flown by Richard Kosi, the project’s test pilot, who is also a part-time employee at Rochelle Municipal Airport.

This will be the plan’s first official public appearance, and it will next appear at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh aviation convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
