Power BI DAX - Using SUMX to Calculate Percent of Total!

In this video we will go through how to use DAX in Power BI to quickly and easily add calculations like percent of total. We will use SUMX along with some other simple calculations. SUMX will be used to get the overall total sales price (including tax) and then adding this to each row. That makes calculating percent of total quick and easy as it is then just a simple division calculation.

The video shows all necessary DAX calculations and they are blown up with added callouts to make it easy to see and read every part of these calculations. The video uses a real business example - hardware sales data from a previous year's campaign. We will take typical campaign data and then add in columns for tax, total sales price (sales price plus tax), total (sum of total sales price placed in each row with SUMX function), then Percent of total.
