Romeo Bergunio and Florante Aguilar perform at Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte

Haranistas didn’t always sing songs that were popular on the radio. They have been known to write their own songs for a particular serenade and this is one example - Romeo Bergunio’s Gumising Ka (Wake Up).

Mang Romy, from Maragondon, Cavite, was a fisherman. He passed away in 2021 at the age of 75.
