This is the second video in a 3-video series entitled “Getting Started with Obsidian: A Guide for Absolute Beginners.” In this video I cover the fundamentals of Notes and Markdown. The series is intended for people who are entirely new to Obsidian – those who have only just started using it and those who are considering using it.

In planning this video series I gave a great deal of thought to the question: “What is the absolute least information that a new Obsidian user would need to know in order to be able to use Obsidian to accomplish real-world tasks and projects?”

The answer turned out to be surprisingly simple – a new Obsidian user needs to know only 4 things in order to be able to use Obsidian productively: The User Interface (UI), Notes, Markdown, and Links. Better yet, you don’t need to have mastered these topics; merely gaining a solid foundation in the basics of these 4 areas is sufficient to make a person functional with Obsidian. And that is precisely what this video series seeks to accomplish.
