These two seem to be a bit of a contradictory, as we know the pulp magazines to have these exploitative stories full of action and adventure. In 1900 Brand Whitlock wrote the short story ‘The colonel's last campaign’ for the October 1900 issue of Ainslee’s Magazine. The title suggests a war story, but no, the colonel is a politician. Did Whitlock write a politic pulp story, or did he want to do more than just entertain the reader?

For my pulp project, I read one story published in a pulp magazine for every year sins the pulp magazines started.
