What is DevOps? Simply Explained in 10 Minutes

Описание к видео What is DevOps? Simply Explained in 10 Minutes

DevOps has become a very important topic in any tech company lately. In this video I go through the most fundamental aspects of DevOps. It is important to understand that DevOps is a methodology and not a Tool.

The term Dev refers to software application development, and Ops refers to IT operations. DevOps is a concept with different interpretations and definitions, but when you get down to it, it’s all about developers and operations teams working together to improve efficiency and save time. For many companies it is crucial to develop at a rapid rate in order to adapt to ever-changing conditions.

The developers' team writes code for new products, features, updates, and bug fixes. In a traditional software development life-cycle, it takes weeks for the Dev team’s work to be placed into production sometimes even months. But this is where the problems start. Bugs seem to appear out of nowhere which is very often caused by the fact that there is a different development environment. The Dev Team uses a different development environment than the IT Operations Team.

Adopting DevOps philosophy requires a new mindset and way of thinking, tools, and skills. DevOps integrates developers and operations teams in order to improve collaboration and productivity. It improves workflows, measures application performance, and automates infrastructure development and testing.
