Employment and work rights
New Online System: A new cloud-based system, Employment Permits Online, was launched in April 2025 to streamline employment permit applications, featuring individual portal accounts for employers and employees.
Expanded Work Rights: Spouses and partners of holders of General Employment Permits and Intra-Company Transfer holders now have the right to work without needing their own employment permit.
12-Month Wait for General Permit Holders: Dependents of those with general employment permits must wait 12 months before they can move to Ireland.
Other Dependent Permissions: Other dependents will receive a Stamp 3 permission, which does not allow them to work.
Visa and registration
Children's Re-entry Visa Suspension: Re-entry visa requirements for children under 16 are suspended until further notice. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with an in-date permission to reside in the state, and the adult must provide proof of guardianship.
First-time Registration: Those from outside the EU/Switzerland needing to register for more than 90 days must do so in person at the registration office after arriving in Ireland. An appointment can be booked online through their Customer Service account.
Join Family Visa Delays: Be aware of potential delays in "join family" visa applications if the sponsor does not meet the required financial criteria, as outlined in the Policy Document on Non-EEA Family Reunification.

Visa Decisions: Check the Immigration Service Delivery website for the latest processing times for visa applications and appeals, which are updated weekly.
Delays: Processing times may be extended for various reasons, including missing or unverified documentation and personal circumstances.
