DEAD MALL - Red Bird Mall (Southwest Center Mall) - Dallas, TX. Located in the southern portion of Dallas, Texas is what was once a busy shopping destination in its early days. However, crime and the nearby Parks At Arlington Mall drove businesses away and slowly this mall began to die. Trying to save it in the 90s, the mall only further emptied out and was bankrupt by 2008 and then went into foreclosure. All major anchors were leaving this mall since 2001 and today only Burlington Coat Factory remains as one. The mall is currently undergoing renovations and will be rejuvenated into a neighborhood center with what tenants remain. The original name of the mall was Red Bird Mall but was changed to Southwest Center Mall in the 90s when it was sold. As part of this renovation project, the mall's name will be changed back to Red Bird. However if you ask the locals and those familiar with this mall, it has always been and always will be called Red Bird.
