Turkish Milk Cake Recipe (Trileçe) 🍰

HERE'S HOW TO MAKE IT ⤵️
Recipe
Sponge
5 eggs
1 cup caster sugar
¼ cup warm water
1 cup + 2 tbsp flour
3 tbsp cornflour
1½ tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla

• Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease & line a large pyrex dish
• Combine the eggs, vanilla & water. Beat on high speed till pale, thick & fluffy adding the sugar 1 tbsp at a time
• Sift in the dry ingredients in 2 batches & fold with light hands. Batter should be light & airy
• Pour in the prepared dish & bake for 15 to 20 minutes till a skewer comes out clean
• Cool completely. Invert & poke holes in it

Soaking Mix
3½ cup milk
1 cup cream
½ cup sugar

• Heat the ingredients till the sugar is dissolved
• Cool completely
• Pour evenly over the cake
• Top with 350 g of whipped cream & refrigerate for 1 hour

Caramel Sauce
200 g sugar
350 g water
30 g cornflour

• Caramelize the sugar in a pan in medium flame till light amber
• Pour in half the water
• Dissolve the cornflour in the other half of water & slowly pour in the caramel. Cook till it thickens a little (should not be very thick)
• Cool completely whilst continuously mixing (should not form top layer)
• Spread over your cooled cake & decorate with whipped cream & crushed pistachios
• Serve cold
