In 2005, 60 Minutes travelled to South Africa to join the epic journey of the few remaining white lions, from captivity to their release into the wild. At that point in time, there were no known white lions roaming the African wilderness; and their existence - all of which were in captivity - were under threat.

Advocates were on a mission to save the white lions by giving them a soft entry into the wild, returning them in their natural home. But some, particularly hunters, have a paradoxical approach - they believed that hunting will result to the species breeding and create an economy that will fund their conservation.
