An ultra-flexible new take on the versatile light-rail concept, Diez Office’s Plusminus for Vibia Lighting won Lighting of the Year during FRAME Awards 2022.

The system is based on a conductive textile ribbon along which luminaries can be placed to create custom lighting solutions. Diez Office designed it to offer a toolkit for personalizing lighting effects. Components, colours and textures can be adapted and combined to suit each specific scheme and site. ‘Plusminus offers a set of possibilities to me in terms of radical customization and future-proofing that I haven’t encountered before,’ said jury member Peter Culley, founder and director of Spatial Affairs Bureau. ‘I think it truly responds to a perceived gap in the market. What we’re seeing is quite a polite deployment of the concept, but I’m guessing you could get quite radical with it.’
