ICNC22 Keynote: Is Roaming a Dead-End for the EV Industry?

Roaming, the establishment of a contractual network between Charging Point Operators (CPO) and eMobility Providers (EMP) in the eMobility industry that has created accessible infrastructure and a seamless charging experience for EV drivers, has been working to smooth over the fractures in the EV ecosystem. EV roaming allows drivers to easily charge at stations regardless of the energy supplier or location. Forced by regulators, direct payment is a must-have feature on EV charging infrastructure. But what is the future of roaming, do these regulations kill interoperability, and might it be a dead end for the EV industry?

In his keynote, Jörg Lohr, CCO at Compleo Charging Solutions AG describes the challenges and the benefits of roaming. And analyses modern charging infrastructure that incorporates not only hardware, i.e. charging station and wallboxes, but also software, for future possibilities and chances for development when it comes to urban mobility specifically.
