Okayama University's Graduate School of Environmental Science is currently researching a pest control technology based on insect biology. This technology turns the highly sociable termites' cooperative nature against itself to yield a revolutionary pest control technology that is both safe and effective.

Worker termites are known for their instinct to carry eggs to so-called "nursery rooms" for incubation. Okayama researchers took advantage of this instinct to develop a technology that tricks worker termites into carrying pesticide-treated imitation eggs into their nests. This technology is currently undergoing further development prior to commercialization, in the hope that it will prove to be an efficient, safe, and cost effective termite extermination solution.

This is an environmentally friendly, safe pesticide control technology that differs markedly from traditional extermination methods which use large quantities of toxic pesticides.
