Outside of Ribble, head back to your Raft then go down at the fork. As soon as you arrive at the next fork, you will be ambushed and thrown into battle in what is definitely one of the hardest fights in the game, so be sure you are prepared before entering the fight.

You only need to defeat the Kraken Head to win the battle and, surprisingly, the Kraken Head is actually the weakest of the enemies here. However, if you are looking to maximize exp (to reduce grinding later) and want to kill each of the Arms and Legs, it will take some very careful positioning and planning. The Kraken Arms have a range of 2 squares, so they are very dangerous. Peter is the MVP here due to his high attack and movement, so be sure to keep him alive at all costs.

From the start, send all of your units except for Kazin down across the 2 planks. You don't need to worry about luring out any of the enemies here; they all work their way towards you in time. Your first target will be the Kraken Leg that is by itself at the bottom of the map. When you are close enough to the bottom of the raft, the Kraken Leg will likely be in range to attack you. Another nearby Kraken Leg will likely also be attacking you from the bottom left. Defeat this Kraken Leg ASAP and continue to work your way down.

After defeating the first 2 legs, be sure to heal up if necessary and continue to move your units down. The goal is to lure the Legs and Arms from both the left and right towards you so you can use Peter, Luke, May and Kazin to defeat the enemies while your front line units absorb 1, maybe 2 hits at most without heals (1 for sure on Super). Kazin should be able to attack the Kraken Legs that are approaching from the right, weakening them before they ever reach your front line units. For now, try to slowly lure the Arms and Legs from the left towards you while you focus on defeating the Arms and Legs on the right.

With the right side cleared out, the Kraken Head will likely begin to work its way towards you. You will want to keep 1 unit fully healed out on the far bottom right of the raft to draw the attention of the Kraken Head if possible (I use Slade). You now have the unfortunate task of defeating the 2 Kraken Legs and 1 Kraken Arm on the left side. By now, your units are likely hurting and low on HP. Use Bowie/Chester/Jaha to your advantage since they tend to draw in the enemies more than other units.

Once you have defeated all of the the Kraken Arms and Legs on the left, there should only be the Kraken Head and 1 final Kraken Leg above you remaining. Send 1 front line unit (I use Chester) and 2 ranged units up on the left side of the raft to defeat this final Kraken Leg while you rotate your other units in and out to tank a hit or 2 from the Kraken Head. Ideally you will be able to lure the Kraken Head right next to the raft to hit it with your front line units. If it doesn't want to cooperate, you will have to rely on your ranged units and flyers to take out the Kraken Head before it defeats you. As I stated above, the Kraken Head is the weakest enemy here, only hitting for 12-13 damage per attack, so you should be able to survive its attacks if you have made it this far.

After the battle, head down and into the nearby town.
