The controversy erupted after the report attempted to link the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack to displaced persons from Myanmar, a connection India outright rejected as irresponsible and unsupported by facts. MP Dilip Saikia, addressing the combined briefing, urged UN mandate holders to stop relying on skewed and unverified media narratives that tarnish India’s global image. Reaffirming its commitment to a “Myanmar-owned and Myanmar-led” peace process, India highlighted humanitarian efforts like Operation Brahma and Operation Sadbhav.
