Tatsuya Imai said he wanted to beat the Dodgers. He said he wanted to compete against Ohtani and Yamamoto, not play with them.

Early reports from Yahoo Sports Japan indicated the White Sox were frontrunners for Imai. This video was based on those reports.

Imai is a 27-year-old right-hander from the Seibu Lions in Japan. He posted a 1.92 ERA over 163 innings last season.

The final signing went to the Houston Astros on a 3-year, $54 million contract.
