Compilation 2 phase/3 phase Motor Startups Across The Line

Описание к видео Compilation 2 phase/3 phase Motor Startups Across The Line

Time stamps

0:00 fan motor Startups
2:17 Industrial Chillers startup (Centrifugal compressors), McQuay, Carrier, Trane, etc.
3:37 Water pumps, across the line
4:07 Cooling tower fans
5:36 Quincy Air compressor starts unloaded

You Guys Asked for more motor startups, so here is a compilation of various motor startups of all different types! Difference between 2 phase and 3 phase motors, blower fans, water pumps for heating and cooling, chillers and cooling towers
0:43 you can hear the belt slipping bad, had a burning rubber smell. If it’s really bad, it could smoke the belt. You can hear the tone of the motor while the belt is slipping and when the fan got up to full rpm, the tone changed. This particular fan likes smoking belts on startup.

Listen to those electrons!

Quick history lesson: yes 2 phase power is not a typo. it’s obsolete but it exists. Invented in the 1890s
3 phase uses 3 conductors and a ground wire (optional) each phase is 120 degrees apart and the current is the sum of the square root of 3 (Current multiplied by 1.73)
2 phase (referred to as poly-phase) uses 4 conductors and grounding was optional back in the day. The phases are 90 degrees apart and it was designed primarily to ease costumers for starting induction motors (without the need for a starting capacitor or start windings)

I Slowly gather more videos on different motor starts as I visit more buildings. Stay tuned for more startups!
