EWS liveried 66013 heads south along the slow lines through Bamfurlong not too long after sunrise on the morning of Friday 07th May 2021. The Class 66 was working the Mossend to Seaforth intermodal, it was running well over an hour early at this point and would be held a couple of miles up the line at Golborne Jn before being allowed to cross the WCML to join the Liverpool & Manchester railway and head towards Liverpool. It's an odd one really, the northbound working goes via Bryn in the afternoon but this southbound one doesn't and instead takes the slightly longer route. I'm guessing that it is either due to a possible gauging issue on the Bryn line (in one direction) or that they route it down this bit of the WCML so it can be held if it is running early as of course, it would be tricky to let an early running freight train amongst the morning commuter trains.
