S. Korea's Unification Minister offers to resign, takes responsibility for soured inter-Korean relations

As continued aggressive satements from North Korea sour bilateral ties, Seoul's Unification Minister offered to resign.
This comes just a day after the regime blew up the Joint Liaison Office in Gaeseong.

Unification Minister Kim Yeon-chul announced Wednesday that he has offered to resign.
Speaking to reporters at the ministry, he said that he will take responsibility for the deteriorating inter-Korean relationship.
"There came a point when it was clear that the current situation was heading in a certain direction and that someone should take responsibility."
In stepping aside, Minister Kim also said he believes it's part of his duty to make way so that inter-Korean relations can improve.
The Minister apologized for not fulfilling the public's hopes for peace and prosperity on the peninsula and resigns 14 months after his inauguration in April 2019.
As North Korea continues to bombard South Korea with aggressive statements, the Vice Minister of Unification, Suh Ho, was scheduled to visit the border area this Thursday as of the government's efforts to stop the anti-Pyeongyang leaflet-dropping.
But that was cancelled Wednesday afternoon because, according to a ministry source, the two Koreas are facing a "change" in their relationship which must be evaluated.
In response to the demolition of the inter-Korean Joint Liaison Office, the source said the government will soon come up with the right response to protect its nationals' property rights.
