Hey guys, I'm here at the National Toy Truck ‘N Construction Show where they have this amazing display of the Tri-State Commodities company yard. And I'm gonna talk with Arron Hofmeister and let him tell you all about this great display.

Well the Tri-State Commodities yard display. The idea of it, it's actually a real place it's in Greeley, Colorado. On the northeast side of town. And I used to grow up in Colorado and always go by their yard and was always fascinated by their trucks. I mean, all these big, bright orange trucks running up and down the highway were pretty neat seeing 'em and later in life, I got the privilege of driving one of their older trucks. The guy I drove for bought a couple of them. And so it was always fun. I got to run in and out of the packing house, which would've been kind of off to the south. So I've always had a fascination with the Tri-State stuff. And so, when I started collecting of course the collection grew and grew and grew. And pictures started floating around the internet and some people out, out west saw them and started contacting me. One of those guys was Gary Smart. He also contacted Ken Reimer who built the actual base for the diorama. And they later got ahold of me and asked if I would be willing to put all my Tri-State trucks on if they built the diorama, so I said sure, I'd love to do it. So that began the process. That was probably a year and a half ago. And Gary and I and Ken and I, and all of us talk back and forth about the ideas on building this. Gary's idea was to kind of keep it secret and in 2023, bring it here and surprise everybody. His concept and idea was gonna be a little larger than this one, but he's a model railroader so he was gonna put a lot more detail into it. But unfortunately, we lost Gary back in late February of this year. And with that being said, Ken called me up and said, “Hey, you want to finish this project?” And I said, sure, let's go for it. So we got on it. Ken lives just west of town here from Indianapolis. And he worked weekends on it. I drive truck for a living. So, I wasn't able to participate as much in the base building, but yeah, he did a fantastic job on the layout, and it's just been so much fun to share information about it. And like I say, it's scaled down. We had to take some design liberties in the scale of it and the buildings themselves are actual sizes of the real ones, but the property and the condensed parking lot is just that. It's a little bit smaller in scale than what the real one is. But I mean, we got all kinds of trucks that they have. Of course, people are saying this company's not making any money. Cuz all their trucks are parked in the yard. So, we we've had a good laugh with that.
