Through the verses of this beautiful Tamil lullaby, sings praises of her child and asks it to fall asleep. In the first verse, the mother compares her child to the AAvaaram flower, which is known for many medicinal uses, and expresses how important the child is in her life.
In the second verse the mother compares her child to the moon that adorns the night sky and implies - since time does not wait for anyone, I need you, my child, to sleep now, so that you can grow up.
In the third verse, the mother describes her child as 'Anjanam', the kajal that ladies use to shun away evil eyes, and pleads with her child to sleep so that evil eyes can be kept away.
