Johnson & Wales University (JWU) – International Hotel Operations, Development & Management

Focus of the program: Study of the of development and management of multinational hotel properties and the skills and abilities necessary to become a global hospitality manager. Trends in the global hotel industry are also examined.

• Student group travels together at end of JWU term to a well-developed or emerging international hotel destination to experience how local government, economy and infrastructure can help or hinder hotel development.
• Students study the skills required for a career as a global hospitality manager, including managing a diverse, multi-cultural staff; developing strategies to satisfy international guests; and working as an expatriate manager.
• Students join in cultural excursions in order to understand how local culture influences both employee and guest characteristics.
• Students participate in visits to multiple, diverse hotel sites, hear from guest educators, learn about the issues and challenges of international hotel operations first hand within a cultural and professional context.
