The Vault: Gunsmoke equine star, Matt Dillion's, horse retires in Southern Indiana

Gunsmoke was one of the most popular western series on TV and aired on CBS and WHAS 11 from 1955-1975 becoming the longest-running network primetime show.

What a lot of people in Kentucky and Southern Indiana may not realize is that there is a Kentuckiana connection to the show.

40 years ago this month the equine star, Matt Dillion (James Arnesss') horse Buck came to retire in southern Indiana.
