We did the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes trek in Nepal in April 2023 in partnership with Kathmandu-based trekking agency Himalayan Masters. We trekked with guide, Govinda Rai, and porter, Prakas Tamang. It was part of a longer trek through the Khumbu region on the Everest Three Passes trail.

This is Part Three of a four-part series covering the trekking route from Lukla to Dingboche (Part One:    • Everest Base Camp Trek, Nepal (Lukla ...  ), the alternative route from Dingboche to EBC crossing Kongma La (Part Two:    • Trekking to Everest Base Camp (altern...  ), and the final part from Gokyo to Lukla crossing Renjo La (   • Trekking Gokyo to Lukla via Renjo La ...  ).

Cho La is the lowest of the Three Passes at 5368 m and it connects Everest Base Camp with the stunning Gokyo Lakes. We highly recommend following this route on your return from BC in order to see more of the region, retrace as little as possible during your trek, and experience one of the true scenic highlights of the Khumbu.
