Hey, everyone, welcome back to MDC Technology Central. Today, I’ll be showing you how you can use Parallels to install Windows 11 on your M-Series MacBook to take full-fledged advantage of the Windows operating system.

Before we get started, there’s a few things to note: first, because the M-series MacBooks are ARM-based, we are only able to install the ARM edition for Windows 11, but if you would like to run x86 programs, Windows 11 on ARM comes with an interpreter for x86 programs, and can run x86 programs, but many major applications now natively support ARM versions of Windows, especially in the last few years, so this is something I wouldn’t worry too much about unless you have really specific use cases like gaming.

Let’s get started.

First, we’re going to need to download Parallels. I have included the link in the description to get access to the download page.

Click “Try Free”, then click “Download trial”. Your browser should automatically download the .dmg file for Parallels.

Open that file, and then double-click “Install Parallels Desktop”.

Click “Open” to continue. Click “Enable” and then the program should automatically start downloading & installing.

When it says “Parallels Desktop is trying to begin the installation”, use Touch ID or type your password to continue.

Once it’s open and ready, you will be prompted with a screen saying you can now “Download and Install Windows 11”. Click “Install Windows” to continue.

Just let the download and installation run at this point, everything will be automated from here on out and you won’t have to do much until you see the Windows desktop, ready to go.

Once Windows is done installing, and you see the Windows desktop, you should see an “Installation Complete” screen, and you have to click to continue.
It should then prompt you to create a Parallels account, so if you don’t have one already, go ahead and create one, and you should be set!
