In this video, Mr. Rajeev Garg (Regional head – BSE) speaks on the NSE Fiasco in reply to the following questions asked by Mr. Rajat Dhar (Director Investments -Indian Investors Federation)
What actually happened in the case of NSE Fiasco on 24TH Feb.? Was it a technological glitch, if yes, then who will be liable for damages caused by the glitch to investors? Can investment protection funds be utilized to compensate the damages? How interoperability between exchanges became a relief in this incident? What would have been the consequences if there had been no interoperability between exchanges?

In reply to which Mr. Garg replied that NSE fiasco was a technological error & such an incident may happen when we move towards technological advancements in financial markets. Still, the matter is under investigation & SEBI is doing a grassroots analysis on the same. In reply to the investor’s fund, He said that It can’t be used for the Investor protection fund as it's very difficult to determine the losses arising actually due to glitch. He also emphasized how interoperability played a vital role during this incident & provided relief to investors as they were able to square off their positions on the other exchange.
