Major Raja Aziz Bhatti was a Pakistani military officer who is remembered as a national hero for his valor and sacrifice during the 1965 Indo-Pak War. He was born on August 6, 1928, in Hong Kong, and later migrated to Pakistan. Bhatti joined the Pakistan Army and was commissioned in the Punjab Regiment.

During the 1965 war between India and Pakistan, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti was stationed in the Burki area of Lahore sector, which faced heavy Indian attacks. He displayed exceptional bravery and leadership during the war and was instrumental in defending the strategically important Burki area.

On September 10, 1965, Major Raja Aziz Bhatti was commanding the Pakistani troops in the Burki sector when he and his men came under heavy artillery shelling from the Indian side. Despite being aware of the grave danger, he continued to motivate and inspire his troops, refusing to leave his post. He took positions in the front lines, exposing himself to enemy fire, and directed the defense of his sector.

Tragically, while Major Bhatti was observing enemy movement, he was hit by an enemy tank shell on September 11, 1965. He sustained critical injuries and was later martyred. His remarkable courage, selflessness, and devotion to duty earned him the highest military award of Pakistan, the Nishan-e-Haider (Sign of the Lion), which was posthumously bestowed upon him for his extraordinary acts of bravery.

Major Raja Aziz Bhatti's martyrdom and his unwavering commitment to the defense of Pakistan have made him an iconic figure in the country's military history.
