Built in 1746, the Old Mill is believed to be the oldest operating windmill in the United States. It saw many years of use and is the only surviving mill of the five that once stood overlooking Nantucket town. It is now a property of the Nantucket Historical Association.

The NHA has been undergoing a significant restoration of the Old Mill with the assistance of two nationally renowned experts in the field of historic preservation. With their help, we are now assessing the next steps to care for this island landmark, ensuring that all necessary work is done correctly so that it can continue to operate for generations to come.
