Foreplay / Long Time (Boston cover by Brody Dolyniuk)

Описание к видео Foreplay / Long Time (Boston cover by Brody Dolyniuk)

A few weeks ago I watched a little documentary on Tom Scholz (guitarist for the band Boston). That led me down the rabbit hole of revisiting their debut album from 1976....an album I wore out during high school, even though my classmates were mostly listening to Depeche Mode at the time.

That led me to discovering some isolated tracks on YouTube which blew my mind even further....hearing extracted parts that I never heard or wouldn’t have imagined existed within the classic song I thought I knew pretty well.
Experimenting with Hammond Organ, Clavinet, Bass, Drums, Guitar sounds and wild effects using tape delays, I decided to just try to recreate the entire song.

Doing these one-man band recreations is like a complete master class on the artist (for me). Truly it gives one a newfound respect and appreciation for the songwriting, innovation, musicianship, vocals and mixing (most of which was done by Tom himself in his basement studio).

At any rate, here's my take on one of my favorite songs of all time, Boston's Foreplay/Long Time.

Thank you,
Tom Scholz, Brad Delp, Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan and Sib Hashian for this gem...and thank you, Nina Di for your stellar camera/iphone work 🙂

Apologies for misspelling "Sholz" in the end credits.

PS: All instruments/vocals/editing by myself using stock Logic Pro X tools/plugins.
Guitar is an EVH Wolfgang Special
Bass is an Ernie Ball 25th Anniversary Edition
Roland V-Drums/TD-20 kit
Taylor 110 cc acoustic
Nektar Impulse 88 MIDI keyboard

I created the "hyperspace pedal" effects by mapping a MIDI foot pedal to Logic's tape delay and controlling the time value.
