Record-breaking flooding has led to continuous monitoring of critical levees in the area, including the White, Green, and Cedar River levees.

The Washington National Guard, along with partner agencies such as King County Flood Control, is overseeing the levees throughout the holiday season, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

"All eyes on the levees at all times," Gov. Bob Ferguson said during a Saturday briefing, where he announced the deployment of 100 additional National Guard members, with 50 assigned to monitor the levees for weak spots.

The state is collaborating with partner agencies to reinforce levees before they break and to mobilize rapid repairs if they breach.
